Foundation of Social Media

Peer Review of Social media Strategy

Peer Responses

Response 1:

The first response was very informative and critical about my plan. They help me realize one crucial mistake: I made my plan based of social media guidelines from another class i’m taking on accident. This was both relieving and panic inducing. But this is why i’m grateful for brutal honesty. It’s from recognizing our failures where we can grow the most

SWOT Analysis

Strengths

  • Website is neat and the plan is orderly with a clear goal in mind.

  • I really liked the way your portfolio and overall website are designed.

  • You've included a crisis communication plan, which I thought was unique. It is also important to have a plan in place in case a crisis does happen to occur.

Weaknesses

  •  The portfolio post of your plan is very short and unclear. If you only added a summary of your plan and there are actually more elements to it, I think you should add them to the post!

  • I feel that you could've had more structured post ideas, rather than just generic ideas/rules for posts. For example, you could have provided visuals and/or concrete ideas for posts and when exactly they will be posted. Having a strong content strategy is a major contributor to the overall success of your plan. I would suggest spending time viewing and evaluating the content that people who do similar work to your topic post.

  • I think you should do some research on a possible audience. I did read that your audience is not intended to be people on social media, but I think it would be a great idea to try to find an audience to whom content would be catered. This will help you when coming up with ideas on what to post. An example of somewhere you could start with your target audience is maybe trying to target people who have disposable incomes because they would be more likely to donate to your cause or attend the event you're advertising!

Opportunities

  • Your topic/cause is emotional; it will definitely grab people's attention

  • You don't necessarily have "competitors" that you need to look out for.

Threats

  • People may not want to donate

  • People may not have time to attend the event

Response 2:

The second response look at this from a marketing/business angle. Like peer one, they mention things was missing. After that, they went into what I would need for that marketing plan. Thought helpful and appreciated, perhaps the recommendation far more serious than a charitable, non for profit plan needs. Pehaps these thing are needed to create more successful events than originally anticipated. Regardless, there insight proved invaluable.

What I Learned and Changes I Made
Looking at other people sites, I realized how eye catching they are with the inclusion of like minded graphics. It was also interesting to see how they laid out their post. Some like a Facebook time line and some like blog post.

There were a lot of changes that needed to be made after my peer review. Adding more content to my plan in general. having it be more appealing and structured differently, revising entries to add more cement-able data.

Remaining Goals/Objectives
After looking at most peoples websites, I realize I came in this too cocky and not ambitious enough. A lot of plans gave more thought out detail while mine only scratched the service. I felt like my topic was sufficient given the spontaneous nature that it is, but I am wrong. My plans need to dream bigger rather than “play it by ear”

For my remaining goals, my main mission in to further refine my plan, dream bigger and build upon it rather than coming up with new ideas. Build a firm foundation before deciding what sinks I want.

Doing this will build on what my alpha and beta post should look like.
